La Exposición “Aguas Vivas” de la artista Soledad Salamé contiene diversas formas de expresión acerca de los sorprendentes cambios climáticos mundiales y sus consecuencias. Incluye instalaciones, animación, pintura, mix-media en tela, grabado solar, video, dibujo y fotografía en aluminio.

“Aguas Vivas” es la última obra de esta artista, en la que se concentra su esfuerzo de investigación y creación de los últimos tres años. La muestra será exhibida en el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes hasta el 5 de noviembre y luego itinerará a Concepción (Pinacoteca) y La Serena (Museo Arqueológico Pdte. Gabriel González Videla). La inauguración en el MNBA (martes 12 de septiembre a las 19:30 hrs.) contará con la presencia de la artista y dos curadores de arte internacionales: Clayton Kirking (Director de Humanidades Biblioteca de Nueva York) y Bélgica Rodríguez (Crítico de Arte Latinoamericano, ex directora del ICAA), quien realizará una visita guiada a la exposición el jueves 14 de septiembre a las 19:30 hrs.

Esta artista chilena -con más de 20 años de residencia en Estados Unidos- en sus treintaiséis años de trayectoria, se ha caracterizado por su capacidad de interrelacionar diversos procedimientos creativos, destacando sus indagaciones en torno al “grabado solar”.
“Aguas Vivas” corresponde a un proyecto de animación, pero sin la utilización del video. Una obra cinetista inspirada en los recursos hídricos de nuestro país; en donde la artista utiliza imágenes lenticulares (lentes que ponen sus creaciones en 45 grados) frente a las obras, lo cual provoca que al ser observadas, genere un efecto de movimiento. Insectos, naturaleza y ser humano confluyen en el elemento vital: el agua.  La muestra se plantea como un llamado a la conciencia del hombre para abocarse a las cosas simples de la existencia y convertirse en embajadores de la sanidad del medio ambiente.

La labor creativa previa de Soledad Salamé toma meses -a veces años- con equipos multidisciplinarios integrados por astrónomos, arquitectos, fotógrafos, entomólogos y botánicos, entre otros. El resultado; una experiencia visual/interactiva de la naturaleza.
La última vez que Soledad Salamé presentó una de sus creaciones en nuestro país, fue el año 2001, en el Museo de Bellas Artes de Santiago, exhibiendo "El Laberinto de la Soledad", una monumental exhibición que se enmarcó en el ciclo "Reencuentro", dedicado a artistas chilenos residentes en el extranjero. El año 2005, Soledad Salamé presentó  Agua Fluida, en el Goya Contemporary, Baltimore, MD, Estados Unidos. A partir de 1999 hasta 2000, participó en "Naturaleza Muerta Latinoamericana, las Reflexiones de Tiempo y Lugar" en el Museo Katonah y el Museo del Barrio de Nueva York. En 1995 intervino en el proyecto "Arte de Mujeres Latinoamericanos, 1915 - 1995" muestra que recorrió el Milwaukee Museum of Art, Denver Museum of Art, Phoenix Museum of Art, Miami Art Museum, culminando en el National Museum of Women in The Arts, Washington, DC. En 1990, le encargaron la creación de los diseños de producción de "Carmen", en el Baltimore Opera's. En 2004, fue elegida por la revista Hispanic Magazine como una de  las 100 latinas más importantes.
